Emerging as a force to be reckoned with in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), Vanie Gandler showcased her exceptional talent once again in Cignal’s season opener of the 2024 All-Filipino Conference. The former Ateneo star spiker proved that her remarkable rookie season was no fluke, delivering a stellar performance that propelled the HD Spikers to victory against the Akari Chargers.
In a thrilling showdown, Gandler asserted her dominance on the court, tallying an impressive game-high of 19 points. Her contributions, including 17 attacks, one ace, and one block, played a pivotal role in Cignal’s triumph over the reloaded Akari team.
Despite being surrounded by seasoned veterans like former PVL Most Valuable Player Ces Molina and top recruit Dawn Macandili-Catindig, Gandler stood out as a standout performer, demonstrating her remarkable skills and composure under pressure.
Reflecting on her outstanding performance, Gandler expressed her satisfaction with the team’s cohesion and resilience, emphasizing the collective effort that led to their victory. She credited the team’s ability to come together despite the short preparation time, highlighting their unity as a key factor in their success.
Acknowledging her standout performance, Gandler was honored as the first Player of the Week for the 2024 season by the newly-formed PVL Press Corps. She edged out formidable competitors from other teams, solidifying her status as a rising star in the league.
