Uratex and Philippine Navy-Go for Gold are poised to square off in a highly anticipated showdown for the first-ever Women’s PBA 3×3 Invitational championship on Monday. With both teams emerging as top contenders throughout the tournament, fans can expect an intense battle for supremacy in the inaugural edition of the league’s women’s 3×3 competition.
The Dream and Lady Sailors, seeded as the top two teams, secured their spots in the crossover semifinals after finishing the group stage with identical 4-1 records. Although both teams displayed impressive performances, it was the Lady Sailors who claimed the no. 1 spot by virtue of their narrow 18-17 victory over Uratex in the eliminations phase.
Led by women’s Gilas Pilipinas mainstays Afril Bernardino and Andrea Tongco, Philippine Navy-Go for Gold will face off against the fourth-seeded Gilas-B squad in the semifinals. Meanwhile, Uratex, anchored by standout Kaye Pingol, will clash with third-seeded Angelis Resort in the other semifinal matchup.
Despite finishing the group stage with similar 2-3 records, Angelis Resort and Gilas-B secured their spots in the semifinals based on higher quotients, setting the stage for an exciting battle in the knockout rounds.
The semifinal action kicks off at the Ayala Malls Glorietta with Philippine Navy-Go for Gold facing Gilas-B at 11:30 a.m., followed by the showdown between Uratex and Angelis Resort at 12 noon. The winners of the semifinals will advance to the championship game, scheduled for 12:50 p.m., where they will vie for the coveted title in a winner-take-all showdown.
