The top athletes in Philippine sports from the previous year will be celebrated in an unparalleled event during the 2023 San Miguel Corporation-Philippine Sportswriters Association (SMC-PSA) Annual Awards Night. This grand event is set to take place on Monday in the majestic ballroom of the Diamond Hotel.

Ernest John “EJ” Obiena, the Asian record holder and world’s second-ranked pole vaulter, stands as the evening’s most notable figure. He will be the exclusive recipient of the Athlete of the Year Award, a prestigious honor presented solely by the nation’s longest-standing media organization.

Nelson Beltran, the sports editor of The Philippine Star and president of the PSA, will lead the sports journalism community in recognizing a record 140 awardees. This event marks the largest Awards Night in the 75-year history of the association.
