Far Eastern University (FEU) is set to welcome back one of its basketball legends, Raiza Palmera-Dy, as she takes on the role of head coach for the Lady Tamaraws in the upcoming UAAP Season 87.
In an announcement made by the school on Thursday, Palmera-Dy’s appointment was revealed, signaling her return to the sidelines to guide the FEU Women’s Basketball Team.
The announcement was met with enthusiasm as FEU celebrated the homecoming of another basketball great to the green and gold family. Palmera-Dy’s extensive experience and deep connection to the FEU basketball program make her an ideal candidate to lead the Lady Tamaraws.
Palmera-Dy takes over the coaching reins from Bert Flores, who has been a longstanding figure in FEU women’s basketball. Her appointment marks a new chapter for the team as they strive to reach greater heights in the upcoming season.
As a former player, Palmera-Dy boasts an impressive collegiate career highlighted by championship victories in UAAP Seasons 71 and 74. Her leadership on the court earned her recognition as the Most Valuable Player in Season 74, showcasing her exceptional skills and dedication to the sport.
Beyond her collegiate success, Palmera-Dy also had the honor of representing the Philippines on the international stage, donning the national team jersey with pride and distinction.
With Palmera-Dy at the helm, the Lady Tamaraws aim to bounce back from their previous season’s performance, where they finished with a 3-11 record and secured seventh place in the standings. Her leadership and expertise are expected to inspire the team as they embark on their journey in UAAP Season 87, fueled by the desire to achieve success and bring glory to the FEU community.
