The Philippines gears up for an exhilarating showcase of talent as the Integrated Cycling Federation of the Philippines (PhilCycling) announces its National Championships for BMX Freestyle. Set to take place from March 22 to 24 at the Tagaytay City BMX Park and Combat Gym, this event promises thrills, spills, and a chance for athletes to shine on a national stage.
The tournament, a pivotal event in the BMX calendar, serves as the platform to select the national team for 2024. With stakes high and competition fierce, riders from across the Philippines will vie for supremacy in the Men and Women Elite categories for Park and Freestyle disciplines.
Not just limited to elite competitors, the championships extend their reach with competitions in additional age categories. Men and Women Open and Junior categories (Birth Year: 2007-2017) will also feature in both Park and Freestyle events, providing a comprehensive platform for BMX enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels to showcase their prowess.
Under the auspices of esteemed organizations such as the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), spearheaded by Tagaytay City Mayor Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, and the Philippine Sports Commission, chaired by Richard Bachmann, alongside the support of the City of Tagaytay, this event promises to be a celebration of athleticism, camaraderie, and the spirit of competitive cycling.
Mayor Tolentino expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We are thrilled to host this prestigious event in Tagaytay City. BMX Freestyle is not only a sport but a showcase of creativity and skill, and we look forward to witnessing the best talents from across the Philippines.”
Richard Bachmann, Chair of the Philippine Sports Commission, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of such events in nurturing the country’s sporting talent. “Events like the National Championships for BMX Freestyle are crucial in identifying and developing our athletes. We are proud to support PhilCycling in this endeavor and look forward to witnessing the incredible displays of athleticism.”
