Filipino-Americans in Las Vegas experienced a vibrant celebration of their heritage intertwined with basketball passion during a special NBA G-League night dedicated to Philippine culture.
The event, held in Las Vegas, Nevada, served as a unifying platform for fans across the Las Vegas Valley, blending sports excitement with cultural pride.
“It’s amazing to see Filipinos out here supporting Ignite and the rest of the Filipinos supporting the community,” remarked Bojo Ackah, host for G-League Ignite.
Despite the Indiana Mad Ants emerging victorious with a score of 116-109 against G-League Ignite, the night was about much more than just the game. Attendees were treated to a variety of Filipino culinary delights at the concession stands, including favorites like chicken adobo, lumpia, and pork barbecue over rice. Additionally, special jersey shirts designed by Filipino-American designers added to the festive atmosphere.
Adding to the cultural celebration, Fil-Am rapper Ez Mil delivered an electrifying halftime performance, delighting the crowd with his music.

Acknowledging the significance of his collaborations with industry giants like Eminem and Dr. Dre, Ez Mil emphasized the importance of perseverance. “We got to where we are because we have to kick the doors down to be able to get anywhere,” he remarked, highlighting the resilience that drives his success.
Meanwhile, Filipino hoops enthusiasts expressed optimism about the prospect of an official NBA team in Las Vegas. Artist Cris Gatdula shared his hopes, stating, “Being from here, we never had an NBA team growing up… So, having the Raiders, the Golden Knights, we have the G-League now. We are one step away. So, put the money here. I think it’s worth it.”
