MANILA, Philippines – Alex Eala will be in the semifinals at the W50 Pune tennis tournament in India after he defeated the home team Zeel Desai by 6-1, 6-2 on Thursday.
The Filipina tennis player made quick work over the 24 year-old Desai. She dominated all aspects of the game and won eight consecutive games during one time.
Eala also scored 31 service points, which he won over Desai’s 16.
She also scored 24 receiving points as compared to her rival’s 13.
Desai has also committed seven double faults.
This week, Eala defeated Hungary’s Fanny Stollar by 6-1, 6-2, and got to the round of 16.
The next tournament for the 18-year-old Latvian Darja Semenistaja, who is the tournament’s number. 1 seed. Their match is scheduled for Friday.
The Latvian is Eala’s partner in doubles play. The two will compete in the quarterfinals of the tournament on Thursday evening.
They had earlier beaten Japan’s Eri Shimizu, and Li Yu-yun from Taiwan, 6-7 7-1, 6-1, 10-7 to make it to the quarterfinals.
There, they’ll be taking on each other, including the United States’ Jessie Aney and Germany’s Lena Papadakis.
