Former San Beda University standout Chris Hubilla has made a significant decision regarding his collegiate basketball career, opting to join the ranks of Colegio de San Juan de Letran in the NCAA after initially committing to University of the Philippines (UP) in the UAAP.
The news of Hubilla’s commitment to Letran was confirmed by Letran athletics director Fr. Vic Calvo, OP, who shared the development with GMA News Online on Saturday. This decision marks a notable shift in Hubilla’s plans, as he had previously pledged to play for UP almost a year ago.
Hubilla emerged as a prominent figure in the high school basketball scene during his tenure with the San Beda Red Cubs. In Season 98, he played a pivotal role in leading the team to the Final Four before they were eventually eliminated by La Salle Greenhills in two games.
Following his impressive stint with the Red Cubs, Hubilla initially committed to join the Fighting Maroons of UP. However, he has yet to debut for the Katipunan-based squad in UAAP Season 86 as he is currently completing his senior high school education
Now, with his commitment to Letran, Hubilla is set to embark on a new chapter in his basketball journey. Standing at 6-foot-4, his addition to the Knights’ roster brings a promising prospect to the team as they gear up for NCAA Season 100.
