The flurry of player transfers in the UAAP continues with University of Santo Tomas (UST) high school standout Andrei Dungo poised to make the move to De La Salle University (DLSU), following his impressive performance in the UAAP high school tournament.
Sources have revealed to SPIN.ph that Dungo, who recently secured a spot in the Mythical Team of the UAAP high school tournament, is set to depart from UST and join the ranks of the La Salle Green Archers. Dungo’s decision comes after a standout season with UST, where he showcased his versatility on the court after transferring from San Beda Taytay just last June.
Standing at 6-foot-3, Dungo averaged impressive numbers for UST, tallying 14.86 points, 8.07 rebounds, 4.36 assists, and 2.79 steals per game. Despite receiving interest from other schools such as the University of the Philippines and Letran, it was reported that Dungo’s parents played a pivotal role in initiating his transfer to DLSU.
Dungo’s departure from UST will undoubtedly be felt by the Tigers, particularly as they navigate their rebuilding phase under the guidance of coach Pido Jarencio and with the support of San Miguel Corp. through alumnus Alfrancis Chua. His move to La Salle underscores the ongoing player movement within the UAAP, further adding intrigue to the upcoming season.
