The PBA Commissioner’s Office, under the leadership of Commissioner Willie Marcial, is currently dealing with a heated altercation that unfolded during the Commissioner’s Cup Finals involving players Calvin Abueva of Magnolia and Mo Tautuaa of San Miguel, as well as their respective wives.
Following San Miguel’s Game 2 victory at the Mall of Asia Arena, tensions escalated when Abueva and Tautuaa’s wife engaged in a heated exchange, with Abueva allegedly daring Tautuaa to a fistfight. Abueva’s wife claimed they were disrespected by Tautuaa’s wife, leading to a tense situation.
Commissioner Marcial wasted no time in initiating investigations into the incident, stating that the league is taking the matter seriously. Marcial has already reached out to Tautuaa and the San Miguel Beermen’s camp to gather information and assess the situation thoroughly.
Abueva’s history of involvement in past confrontations will also be taken into consideration as the league deliberates on the appropriate actions to address the incident. The forward has been embroiled in previous heated altercations, prompting the league to closely monitor his conduct on and off the court.
In the aftermath of the incident, efforts were made by SMB governor Robert Non and team consultant Leo Austria to calm the situation and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
