The University of the Philippines (UP) has announced that Oliver Almadro, the director of its volleyball program, will take on the role of coaching the women’s volleyball team in the upcoming UAAP Season 86. Almadro, a seasoned coach with professional experience and a former champion coach at Ateneo de Manila University, is currently the head of operations for Petro Gazz Angels and previously served as the head coach of Choco Mucho Flying Titans in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).
In his new role, Almadro expressed his commitment to establishing a winning culture within the Fighting Maroons’ women’s volleyball team.
“Ang malinaw naman sa gusto nating mangyari is we want to compete and we want to win. Pero ‘di natin mamadaliin. We will go through the process, kaya rin natin pinabalik as coaches ‘yung mga may alam talaga sa UP Fight in volleyball,” Almadro stated.
In addition, the UP men’s volleyball team will see Sergio “Vip” Isada take on the role of head coach, with Carlo Cabatingan serving as his main assistant coach. The team aims to bounce back from a challenging Season 85 with renewed vigor and determination.
