Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala continues her ascent in the world of tennis, achieving remarkable new career-high rankings. In the latest Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings released after the Australian Open, Eala, at just 18 years old, reached a personal best of No. 184 in singles, marking a three-notch improvement from her previous ranking of 187.
Eala’s impressive singles ranking comes on the heels of her notable quarterfinal finish in the Necc-Deccan $40,000 ITF Pune tournament in India. Her stellar performance in the competition contributed significantly to her upward movement in the global standings.
Coincidentally, Niño Alcantara, Eala’s partner at the 19th Asian Games, secured victory in the men’s doubles tournament at the Necc-Deccan ITF Pune event. Alcantara, alongside Indonesian partner Christopher Rungka, emerged victorious by defeating Russian Bogdan Bobrov and Indian Adil Kalyanpur in two sets on Saturday.
