PVL’s latest team unveiled a few of their players, such as Janine A. Navarro as well as Heather Guino-o.
The PVL on Thursday unveiled the 12th team in the league, namely the Capital1 Power Spikers.
The team is managed by twins Mandy as well as Milka Romero who are daughters of one-Pacman and sportsman Rep. Mikee Romero. He also is the owner of the PBA Team NorthPort Batang Pier.
The Romero sisters have hired their coach Roger Gorayeb of the San Sebastian Lady Stags to coach the team.
The goal of the team this season is pretty straightforward.
“Kung pwede ngayon pa lang, ayaw ko lang mag-land kami sa ilalim kasi bagong bago tong team na ‘to eh,” Gorayeb told reporters in a press conference.
The squad recently conducted an attempt to try out for two days earlier in the week. They will begin formal training on the streets of San Sebastian next Monday.
“But I will draw on my experience,” he said.
The press event are Capital1’s new recruits, including middle blocker Janine Navarro of the Nxled Chameleons, as well as the opposite spikers Heather Guino-o of the Petro Gazz Angels and Rovee Instrella from the now-disbanded F2 Logistics Cargo Movers.
The group also announced the registration for an ex- Philippine Army Lady Trooper Aiko Urdas, as well as the former PLDT High Speed Hitting Jorelle Singh.
Gorayeb states that there are the initial number of 23 people on their roster which will need been further reduced to 20 players.
He’s not overwhelmed by the thought of having to start all over again prior to the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference that is scheduled to begin on February 20.
“Maski sa Ateneo eh, nagsimula ako sa limang player lang. Tapos biglang andon na. If you will remember, yung Balipure, pinagsama ko lang yung Baste. What did you do? The first time there was a nag-finals, but tapos the nag-champion kami at All-Filipino.” He said.
“‘Yun lang na ganyang experience ko, bibitbitin ko lahat dito. Alam mo naman ‘yung reputation ko sa ganyan, medyo mahigpit ako sa ensayo.”
